2021 Northern States: Day 4

Sept 12, Sunday.

States seen: Washington, Idaho, Montana (new)

The plan was to drive from Whidbey Island to Billings,
Montana, about a 13-hour trip. So, we hit the road early, to make the 5:30a
Ferry across the Sound.

Took I-5 south to I-90, and then crossed the Cascades in
the rain because, well… it’s the Pacific Northwest and it has to rain.

Descended into beautiful farmland,

…then through Spokane

…and into Idaho

…and the Rocky Mountains.

I’d been through the southeastern corner of Idaho last year
on the way to Jackson, Wyoming, but we decided to stop for lunch at the Honey
Eatery and Social Club in Coeur, d’Alene.

Headed back on the 90 east into Montana.

and came out of the Rockies into Billings around 7p.

Stayed at the Doubletree Billings, off the Yellowstone River, which had the
best view in town.

Most of the sidewalks had been rolled up since it was a
Sunday night, but we found a place down the street, Uberbrew, that had burgers. So, we ate there, then went back and crashed.
