Sept 11, Saturday

Shell’s aunt had a day planned for us, so we drove ‘to
America’ (the mainland), as she likes to say, through the northern point of the
island to a little town called La Conner and ate lunch off the channel there.

Then we drove back through the northern part of the island,
stopping at what is called Deception Pass, a narrow opening between Whidbey
Island and Fidalgo Island, where there is a high bridge over the water and some
great photo opportunities.

Stopped for ice cream on the way back and ate it in
a huge field.

Had dinner at her aunt’s house that evening before going to bed
at a reasonable time for an early departure the next morning.
