2022 DC to Philly: Day 4

Oct 3 Monday– DC

Light rain all day. Stupid hurricane…
Got ourselves some metro passes and took the subway into DC

for our Capitol tour. Doesn’t cost anything, but you have to book this in advance. I did. But I had mistakenly thought we were supposed to be there Monday, rather than the Tuesday I actually booked the tour for. But no one checked, so we got in without problems.

There are a lot of security checks for anything to do with the government these days. We were allowed to see the rotunda,

and the old rooms for the house and senate,

but we weren’t allowed to go to the current house chamber, and the Senate chamber tour made us give up our phones and cameras since no photography is allowed in the chambers. That said, we were able to get in to the Senate chambers and see it…. The senate was not meeting that day.

The Supreme Court building is just to the east of the Capitol building, so we stopped by and took some pics of that.

Then we went to an excellent Indian restaurant called Rasika. We took pics of various governmental buildings and museums,

much of which we couldn’t even think about going in. But we did stop in the Smithsonian American History Museum,

which I found disappointing, and then the National Art Gallery, which we were too tired to really attend to. Mostly we wanted to just get off our feet and relax.

Took the subway back to Alexandria

and then went to eat at yet another tavern, this one not as good.
