We have been watching some Korean dramas on TV for the last year, and several of them features songs we really like. So I’ll google the songs and check out some of the lyrics if I can find translations. 

One of them featured lyrics that were, I swear it: “beans, beans, beans, beans….“ And that was happening all over the song.  

I’m thinking, I must be missing something here… is the some cultural element that I’m not catching that would make sense of lyrics that state, ‘beans, beans, beans, beans’ over and over again- ? 

The explanation was: the lyrics at those points were apparently meant to mimic a heartbeat, something along the lines of, “the beat of my heart, boom-boom, boom-boom…” 

Finally we figured out they must have typo’d what should have been a heart beating- ‘beat, beat….beat, beat’. But relating this story to a Korean-American girl, she mentioned that the difference in the Korean word for bean and the sound of a beat, is minimal as well, so it was apparently an easy enough mistake to make…. but hilarious too.
