Music I Love: 1982

Sweet Dreams– The Eurythmics I liked the Eurythmics, and they had a bunch of songs that I really liked. No More I Love You’s from much later (1995) is perhaps my favorite, but Sweet Dreams is one of those that sticks in your head for good reasons too.

Africa– Toto This song has become somewhat of a joke, but it is a great song, so it makes the list according to me.

Jack and Diane– John Cougar Mellencamp John Cougar Mellencamp was kind of an important part of music in the 80’s. He popularized a kind of pro-America country/rock fusion that obviously found an audience. He has a couple that made my list and I really like this one. Maybe not as much as Pink Houses, but there’s no reason an artist only has to have one song on the list.

White Wedding– Billy Idol Classic cool song…. Hey little sister what have you done?….C’mon… it’s a…. nice day, for a…. white wedding…. I can’t help but get into this one.

Gypsy– Fleetwood Mac I was kind of surprised that Fleetwood Mac didn’t make this list more, but this song, Gypsy, may be my favorite of theirs, although on a different day, I might choose Landslide. The guitar solo by Lindsey Buckingham at the end is one of my favorites.

Only the Lonely– Martha and the Motels I already wrote about why this song is on the list in another post. It evokes good memories for me.
