2024 New England: Tuesday Oct 15

The rain had cleared and we finally had a really great view across Lake Champlain, exposing just how great the sunset would have been the evening prior, had we actually been able to see it.

We went to get some breakfast at at Black Cap Coffee and Bakery, then headed east to Concord, New Hampshire.

It was about a 2.5 hour drive from Burlington to Concord. Concord is the Capitol of New Hampshire, but still, not a very big town. We docked downtown on the main drag,

visited the State Capitol,

the New Hampshire historical society,

and then just walked around town for a bit.

Then we went to lunch at Beefside (a seafood restaurant despite the name),

another local diner, where I got a lobster roll. It surprised me that it was cold, but this helped out for later. We checked into our hotel, then headed out to a Target to get some things we needed.

On the way back we stopped at a riverside park.

I saw these little blueberry looking berries, so I picked one, sniffed it, but didn’t eat it.

Shell was like… I wouldn’t touch that, what if it’s poison? I’m thinking, don’t be such a wuss. Then I googled it and found it it’s called pokeweed, and…. Yeah, it’s poisonous. She mumbles “stupid”.

Went back to town, walked around some more to take pictures of the buildings,

got a coffee and chai latte at Revelstoke Coffee, then headed back to the hotel where we caught the sunset.

That night went to Revival where I got cod and she got the lobster poutine.

Returned again exhausted to the hotel after another 20k+ step day.
